I have an MA and am ABD (all but dissertation) at The University of Chicago. My background is in philosophy and cultural studies. My undergraduate degrees are in Philosophy and Communications from DePaul University.
Experience
I taught Philosophy for 2 years at Columbia College Chicago. The specific courses that I taught were Ethics, Intro to Philosophy and Aesthetics. I took time away from teaching once I became a mother, and now that my children are in school, I want to get back to work as a teacher. To that end, I am going to be teaching in the fall once again at local Colleges and Universities, and want to supplement that with tutoring. When I was teaching, my favorite aspect of the job was working one-on-one with students outside of the classroom when they either wanted to improve their writing or better understand how to engage critical concepts in the work that they had been assigned. The most challenging part of being a teacher is making the work relevant to the students life so that they want to engage with it in a meaningful way. I pride myself on being able to work with students to ignite a spark for learning.
